Miss Allcock

our class saint - saint martin de porres

Feast Day  - 3 November.

St. Martin de Porres was born in Lima, Peru on December 9, 1579.

Martin spent long hours in prayer. When he was 15, he asked to join the Dominican Convent of the Rosary in Lima and was allowed to join as a servant boy. He was eventually moved up to the church officer in charge of distributing money to deserving poor.

Later, Martin was assigned to the hospital where he would remain in charge until his death. He became known for his careful and patient care for the sick, even in the most difficult situations.

Martin's life reflected his great love for God and all of God's gifts. It is said he had many extraordinary abilities, miraculous and spiritual knowledge and an excellent relationship with animals.

When Martin was 60 years old, he became very ill and he passed away on November 3, 1639.

Always consider others as more holy

and more worthy than you,

at the same time strive to be as

holy as you can be.

YEAR 3 GALLERY

We look to Jesus as our guide in praying and learning. Here you will see some of the wonderful experiences we have shared together in Year 3.

A group of children in Year Three worked together to create their own Prayer and Liturgy to share with the rest of the class.
We gathered together to reflect on how we can show our love for God and others through our actions and choices.
Together, we explored how we can live as followers of Jesus and how this helps us shine our light, just as Jesus taught us.

'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Oliver Daywalt.

As part of our English unit, Year Three took part in a hot-seating activity to help us imagine how a glue stick might feel if it could talk!
We asked and answered questions in role, using ambitious vocabulary and expressive voices to show emotion.

Year Three explored the poem 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae and used it as inspiration to write their own Question and Answer poems. The children reflected on remembrance, bravery, and peace, developing rich vocabulary and expressive language. They proudly shared their thoughtful poems to honour those who served.

Year Three are learning some new skills during their PE sessions.
They are developing their understanding of attacking, defending and they are having to think about how they use their skills, strategies and tactics to outwit the opposition.
